About Me
A home away from home for your precious pups

When your dogs need personal love and attention but you can’t be there, I will be
With more than 20 years’ successful dog-minding in my own home, I have a unique alternative to dog kennels that dogs and dog owners adore.
A safe, secure, stress-free and loving home environment where every dog lives inside with me, and is treated like family.
Hi, I’m Von, founder of In My Home Dog Minding

I grew up in Wellington, and moved to Australia in 1987. I set up In My Home Dog Minding in 2004 in Sydney because of my lifelong love of all animals, especially dogs.
My whole life has been spent surrounded by dogs and over the years I have dealt with all sorts – big dogs, little dogs, healthy dogs, sick dogs, you name it, I have probably encountered it!
I was involved with dog rescue for over 25 years, which included fostering more than 250 dogs in that time. After moving to a rural property, I also fostered horses for a while.
I returned to NZ in 2025 (along with Hope, a poodle x, Aurora, a greyhound, and Jasper, a miniature pony) to continue my business — In My Home Dog Minding — from Levin, Horowhenua. I know NZ families will love this unique service as much the Aussies did!
In an earlier life, I worked in the corporate world, but never felt fulfilled, and decided a change was needed. Now I am doing something that gives me great joy and fulfills one of my great passions – caring for animals.

All dogs are my favourite dogs!
I’ve cared for hundreds of dogs over the past 25 years. They’re all beautiful and unique, and I love them all.
Truthfully, every dog that stays with me is a favourite of mine. Dogs are amazing animals.
But I would like to introduce you to Axel (pictured). Over in Sydney, Axel was my longest-visiting boarder. He repeatedly came to In My Home Dog Minding for more than 14 years.
I’ve known Axel since he was young. He turned 17 in 2025, but even at that age he played joyfully like a puppy and was one of the happiest dogs I’ve ever met. Hope to see you again sometime soon, Axel!
